Our March break began Friday March 9th untill Sunday the 12th of March. The break lasted 9 days. The most popular places to go during the break was to Moncton and Florida. There was also a large number of people who stayed home playing in the snow and renting movies. March break was our last holiday until next Friday. Next Friday is a holiday because there is a parent teacher meeting. This Friday we will be receiving our report card so every one is pretty nervous and anxious to see our marks

On Tuesday the 14th of March we had a snow day. On Wednesday we had a dance from 6:30 to 9pm. Then on Thursday we had a pajama day. Everyone was wearing their pajamas and the money we raised went to the IWK the hospital for sick children, finally it was Friday. All week the teachers were busy organizing, and planning to take all the kids to sugarloaf. We left from school around 9 o’clock to go skiing, snowboarding, or sliding. Tuesday, February 14 was the big “love day” (Valentine’s day). Some of the students and especially the staff worked very hard on making a fun and enjoyable afternoon. They prepared a mini dance (sock-hop) and sold little heart shaped candies to the students of DMS. Many kids were on the dance floor, dancing to the beat of the music. It worked out very well.

The staff and parents of the boys DMS basketball team were very busy in organizing the provincials, which will be held in Dalhousie this year on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday February 19. The basketball provincials are the most important event for all of the basketball players. They are the biggest tournament in the whole season. When time comes to get ready for provincials every body is exited, even the parents and staff. Although it takes a lot of time to organize and prepare. Parents, friends and family members come from all over the different cities and towns to support and cheer their town basketball team that they cheered for all year. There is third, second and first place winner. Third and second place winners earn a nice trophy, while the first place winners win a big Banner, which means much more to the players.

So as you can see, this week has been a very busy one and it still isn’t over. I hope you had a nice Valentine’s day.

February 4-12

On the night of February 5, 2006 around 12:00 PM we started to get hail and rain that made most of the roads and sidewalks dangerous to both walk and drive on. Around 5:00pm rain and hail started to freeze over windows of buildings, and cars. It also froze branches on trees, which had made a beautiful scenery, but made the trees very heavy which made the tree branches bend, break and fall off. The experimental “First Contact” through cyberspace was successful.

January 21-27

Free Throw Competition;
Every year at Dalhousie Middle School the students particpate in an activity called the Knights of Columbus Free Throw competion. It encourages many boys and girks to meet new people , have fun, and it is a good way to keep in shape.

There are 6 different leaques of hockey: Initiation ( ages 5 and under), Pee Wee ( ages 10 - 12), batom ( ages 12 -14) and the last one is Miget ( ages 14 - and up) There also is a double A team for atom and up. Due to the population of Dalhousie we do not have a triple A team forPee -Wee or Bantom leaques. We can not compete against big citys like Moncton and Frederiction.
If you do not have the right equipment or don't have any equipment Dalhousie Minor Hockey will lend you the equipment that you need.

Dalhousie hosts two major tournaments, one for initiation and for Novice. The kids at my school were pretty excited on Monday because we got to see all our friends and talk about our Christmas.

I think if you had the chance to talk to most of us we would say that it was a little hard getting back into the “school mode”. Our Language Arts class was a fun start as we were doing Power Point presentations and plays and skits. Mr. Brown is asking us to teach you about where we live to help give you an idea of what it is like to live in Northern New Brunswick.

Our weather for January is actually pretty mild around -15 celcsius and a low of -2 celcius. However, the weather reporters said that January 23rd is usually the coldest day of the month and this is the day our country is having a federal election; so we might have a new Prime Minister.

Tyler Anderson and Chris Firth.

Only 3 more sleeps until Christmas

This week at school has not been a normal one.
